Training the Next Generation of Sikh Storytellers

Building a pipeline of future media professionals.

One of the biggest long-term challenges was not just storytelling -- but the lack of Sikh representation in media careers. For generations, cultural and historical circumstances pushed Sikh families toward stability-driven professions, leaving creative fields underexplored.

Sikhlens addressed this gap by building structured educational programs in collaboration with leading film schools. Through Project S, students -- both Sikh and non-Sikh -- are introduced to Sikh history, culture, and storytelling through academic coursework and hands-on filmmaking experiences.

This approach creates long-term impact. These students go on to become filmmakers, producers, and decision-makers in major media organizations. Over time, this ensures that Sikh stories are not just told occasionally, but are embedded into mainstream media ecosystems.

In parallel, Sikhlens Digital Voices has trained over 10,000 children globally, introducing storytelling at an early age. From gurdwaras to classrooms to online platforms, this program is building confidence, creativity, and identity -- ensuring that the next generation grows up not just consuming media, but creating it.
